The Georgia PTA Family Engagement Committee is proud to announce a partnership with United Way of Greater Atlanta, Watch DOGS and Strong Fathers Strong Families. With support from The Georgia Department of Education.

Georgia PTA needs your feedback
Please take a moment to complete the survey

What the Georgia PTA Family Engagement Survey will measure:

  • Results will compare the results from the 2005 Georgia PTA Family Engagement Survey
  • Additional topics focus on Early Child Care and Learning, Father Engagement, and family engagement compliance pursuant to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), pursuant to the National Standards for Family-School Partnerships - adopted by the Georgia Board of Education, June 2010

When will the Georgia PTA Family Engagement Survey be live:   January 8th to 25th, 2019
How does the Georgia PTA Family Engagement Survey differ from the Georgia Department of Education's (GA DOE) Climate Parent Survey*. The Climate Parent Survey:

  • Launched from October 15, 2018 to the end of February 2019
  • Part of the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) Star Rating (School Climate rating determined from student health survey, data on environmental and behavior indicators, data on student behavioral and school based reactions, and teacher and parent surveys)
  • Measures Teaching and Learning, School Safety, Interpersonal Relationships, Institutional Environment, and Parent Involvement
  • Parent participation required - minimum of fifteen (15) parents at each public school

How You Can Be Engaged in Both Surveys:

  • Encourage all parents to participate in the GA DOE Climate Parent Survey before the end of its launch period (end of February 2019)

Thank you for all you continue to do for Georgia's students, families, and schools!

* Research confirms that a positive school climate is a significant factor in determining student achievement. The first step to improving school climate is to measure and analyze it with a school climate survey instrument. The Georgia Parent Survey is an anonymous, statewide survey instrument that measures parent perceptions of school climate. It was developed along with the Georgia Student Health Survey 2.0 and the Georgia School Personnel Survey. Data from the surveys are used to guide school prevention and intervention strategies.
Each survey was developed by the Georgia Department of Education in partnership with Georgia State University and the University of Connecticut.  Factor analysis has been conducted on each of the surveys and the factor analysis confirms that the surveys are a valid and reliable tool for measuring school climate. In fact, our surveys have been embraced by National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments as a model for the entire nation. Data from the surveys and other sources will be used in the calculation of School Climate Star Ratings for all Georgia public schools.
